Wellbeing at Wantirna South

At Wantirna South Primary School we are committed to working together to provide a safe, engaging and inclusive environment that supports the academic and social development of our students. Students, staff and parents work in respectful and supportive partnerships, assisting students to develop the social skills and understandings that will enable them to be active participants in the wider community.

Social and Emotional Learning

We aim to encourage our students to become optimistic, resilient young people who know that their ideas and opinions are valued. We are committed to educating the ‘whole child’ and guiding them to realise their individual potential. Our whole school approach to wellbeing includes; a commitment to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in our classrooms, a focus on modelling our school values, a ‘Buddy’ programs for our Prep and Year 4 students, transition programs and working with community partners.

The Resilience Project

We are very proud to partner with The Resilience Project. This partnership provides our students with regular opportunities to learn about the importance of practising Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM), as well as helping students to label their emotions by building their Emotional Intelligence.
