At Wantirna South Primary School we aim to develop critical and creative learners with the capacity to think, analyse and successfully participate in the wider community. Our staff supports students in developing love of Literacy.
Maths
At Wantirna South Primary School, our Mathematics program links the academic learning to everyday experiences. It is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum which is organised into the contest strands Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. These strands are divided in to four proficiencies, Understanding, Fluency, Problem Solving, and Reasoning, which describe how the content is taught and explored.
Theme
Theme at Wantirna South Primary School incorporates the Humanities Health and Science curriculum areas. Across the whole school we use a two-year cycle where students complete four Theme units per year that are designed to address the curriculum standards at their developmental level. We also incorporate the capabilities into the design of these units, this includes Critical & Creative Thinking and Ethical, Intercultural, Personal & Social Capabilities
