We believe strongly in the need to establish sound environmental practices at school, and to educate the children in these areas as well. We have developed Sustainability Curriculum Units across all levels of the school. Other related initiatives include;
- Free range chickens in the school yard
- Rubbish Free Yard Policy
- Vegetable Garden
- Water Tanks
- Composting and Worm Farm
- Water conservation program
In order to ensure the native flora and fauna of the area continues to prosper our Sustainability program includes participating in School Tree Planting day annually. We also ensure the plants within our school grounds replicate the native vegetation in the local area.
Friday March 1st was School’s Clean Up day. Our students participate in this event annually to ensure the environment around the school is a safe and healthy environment for all living things.
Each year we are amazed with the amount of rubbish collected around the school. This year we noticed a reduction in the amount of rubbish collected.
Gardening with the 3/4s
In Discovery sessions, students in level three and four learn a variety of topics and subjects; from Cyber Safety to Gardening. This year the students have often ventured out into the garden. They have researched, measured up, planted, watered and harvested; getting their hands dirty, while learning Mathematics, Science and many more important subjects.
